At a time when warfare is rapidly evolving, Anil Chauhan has outlined a bold new vision for India’s military future. Addressing Ran Samvad 2026, the CDS said wars today are fought not just across land, sea and air, but also in cognitive and synthetic domains. He highlighted that influencing perception can achieve political goals without traditional combat. Calling war “subordinate to politics”, Chauhan emphasised the strategic endgame behind military action. He also confirmed that India’s theatre command reforms have achieved consensus among the Army, Navy and Air Force, marking a significant step towards jointness. At the same time, he pointed to the growing role of AI, suggesting it could even invert the classic OODA loop, allowing faster and predictive decisions. As warfare speeds up and expands, India’s approach is clearly shifting towards a more integrated, technology-driven future.
