Nagpur: A 17-year-old student of Std X was booked for performing unnatural sex with a 12-year-old boy at the government orphanage on Old Bhandara Road, Lakadganj, on Wednesday. The juvenile performed the act in the washroom, the cops said.
The matter came to fore when officials from the Child Development Centre were visiting the place. They found the victim alone in his room instead of attending school, which is situated in the same premises.
They approached him and asked about his problem after gaining his trust. He disclosed the sexual harassment, which left them shocked, said the cops. It’s learnt that the officials recorded his statement in writing and informed the Child Welfare Society about it. The issue was immediately reported to the cops.
The victim, a student of Std VI, had been shifted to the orphanage by the Child Welfare Society following a court order in August this year. However, the centre officials sent him back since the society had failed to submit his birth certificate and some other important documents.
On September 2, the victim, who had been found begging on the roads, was again transferred to the centre. “He was not interested in studies and avoided talking to other students,” said Bhaskarrao Joshi, one of the centre officials. “We tried to talk to him about his issues to make him comfortable in the centre but in vain,” he said.
“The accused had earlier been driven out of the centre for thrashing other students and breaking rules and regulations,” added Joshi.
“Over the last fortnight, the elder student had been sexually exploiting the victim in their common washroom,” said senior police inspector SB Mane.
Cops took the juvenile accused to the police station and questioned him on Wednesday. He also admitted his acts.
On Thursday, the cops sent the victim and juvenile for medical test. Cops registered offence of unnatural sex under IPC and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
