Nagpur: Over 650 results for winter 2025 examinations were announced after the 45-day deadline by Nagpur University exam section, while nearly 90 results of major courses are still pending even as its summer exam is set to start.
Out of around 1,171 results published so far, as many as 656 were declared beyond the 45-day timeframe mandated by the Maharashtra Public Universities Act. Of the 87 more pending results, 50 are under processing and 40 pending for scrutiny, officials said. The figures indicate that a majority of students either continue to wait for their results or had to endure delays stretching over two to three months.
This is in sharp contrast to NU's own past records when it achieved strong performance of announcing bulk results in 30 day deadline and never missed the 45 day schedule for any since 2016 onwards.
The university declared results of its 1,013 Winter-2024 examinations within 30 days. It conducted 1,221 examinations. Some results were out in less than 20 days of the last paper in winter 2024. The examinations started in October 2024 and concluded without any issues on Dec 31.
The winter 2025 examinations commenced in November after an inordinated delay of nearly two months. The last paper of the season was held on Feb 28.
Hence, many students are anxiously awaiting results beyond three to four months.
The exam section has now released 482 timetables for second, fourth, sixth and eight semester exams for summer exams. However, confusion remains among students about their backlog exams in case they need to appear.
Students are also grappling with confusion and stress after the university's summer examination timetable clashed with several national-level and professional entrance tests, leaving many unsure which exam to prioritise.
The university's summer examinations are set to begin on May 5.
Students from political science and other streams have also reported clashes with competitive exams. Engineering students affiliated with the university face a similar crisis, with their exams coinciding with entrance tests for premier institutes like Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
In one such case, a student who secured an opportunity for admission into an IIT programme now risks losing it, as her entrance test falls on the same day as her university's final semester engineering exam.
The university officials said they are assessing the extent of overlaps. While rescheduling the entire timetable may not be feasible, they assured relief measures. Students facing clashes have been asked to submit applications with proof of overlapping exams, following which special examinations may be held for them.
