Maha Class 12 CBSE students post 87% pass percentage
Nagpur: Maharashtra saw just over 87% of its Class 12 students clearing the exam, which was higher than the national average of 85.2%. Though Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) does not reveal district-wise details, a rough estimate puts the number of students in Nagpur alone as around 5,000. Across Maharashtra, a total of 39,848 students appeared for the exam, which for the first time ever witnessed digital evaluation. Keeping in line with the national trend, girls in Maharashtra outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 88.66%, against the latter's 85.65%.For administrative purpose, CBSE has divided states under multiple regions which are known by the city in which the regional office is located. Maharashtra is administered by Pune regional office, which also controls Goa and Union Territories of Diu & Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Pune region posted 87.32% pass percentage and was ranked 10th among 22 CBSE regions nationally. Trivandrum topped the regional chart at 95.62%, followed by Chennai at 93.84% and Bengaluru at 93.19%. Prayagraj recorded the lowest pass percentage nationally at 72.43%, a gap of more than 23 percentage points from the top.Nationally, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.20%, a drop of 3.19 percentage points from 88.39% last year. Of the 17.80 lakh students registered across the country, around 17.68 lakh appeared, while 15.07 lakh cleared it. Only three candidates registered under the transgender category, and all of the cleared the test. A total of 94,028 students, or 5.32% of those who appeared, scored 90% and above nationally. Of these, 17,113 students, or 0.97%, crossed the 95% mark. The number of students placed in the compartment category climbed to 1,63,800, or 9.26%, from 1,29,095, or 7.63%, last year, a rise of 34,705 students.Maha performancePass % | 87.04Higher than national averageGirls outscore boys by 3%
