NAGPUR: Bernard Harrison, principal partner creativity and design, Bernard Harrison & Friends, Singapore, who has bagged the tender to prepare master plan for the proposed Gorewada zoo, submitted the draft to B Majumdar, principal chief conservator of forests (PCCF), wildlife.
According to sources, the draft will be discussed at a workshop on January 20 by renowned experts including ex-IFS officer and author Kamal Naidu, A V Joseph, additional principal chief conservator of forests, Andhra Pradesh, Brijkishore Gupta, scientific officer, Central Zoo Authority (CZA), Kazvin Umrigar, director, Rajiv Gandhi Zoological Park, Pune, among others.
Bernard was in the city in November for week-long discussions on inception report he presented before preparation of a master plan document for getting permission of the CZA for the establishment of a zoological park in Gorewada.
Top officials did not comment on the draft plan, but it is expected to include identification of land for various purposes. It defines the summary of data on site evaluation, which includes an assessment of climate, vegetation, land form, existing structures and other relevant constraints.
The draft plan includes maps, drawings, charts etc. including perimeter, parking space, visitor/traffic flow pattern, service space, utilities, infrastructure and support facilities, layout plan and exhibits.
It is, however, expected to include timetable for phasing the construction, manpower requirement, expenditure statement, training requirements, acquisition of animals, choice of species, organisational set up among host of other things.
