BJP leader dies in road accident in Gadchiroli
Nagpur: Gadchiroli Municipal Council's sanitation and health committee chairman and senior BJP neta, Mukteshwar Katwe (56), died in a road accident in in Kargil Chowk area on Chandrapur road on Friday night.Katwe was on way home on a two-wheeler at around 10pm when a pig suddenly collided with his vehicle. Following the collision, Katwe lost control of the vehicle and fell, leaving him severely injured.

Katwe was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries. Police arrived at the scene, conducted panchnama, and launched an investigation into the incident.Katwe was a prominent BJP figure in the region and previously held positions such as former city president of the party. He was elected as a corporator (municipal councillor) in the recent elections and was entrusted with the key portfolio of sanitation and health about a month ago.Known for his active involvement in various social initiatives, he enjoyed respect across political and community circles. The incident once again highlighted the persistent menace of stray pigs roaming freely on roads, especially in areas like Kargil Chowk, which already faces heavy traffic congestion. Locals long complained about such animals posing serious risks to commuters, with several past accidents reported due to similar causes.
