2 Nagpur youths drown in Kanhan river

NAGPUR: Two youths, Rahul Thombre (25) and his friend Umesh Thakre (27), both residents of Gorewada, reportedly drowned in Kanhan River on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said that the duo were also related and had gone to bath in the river in Mouda town. Rahul, who was the first to enter the river, started shouting for help after he started drowning. Umesh entered the river to save him but he too started drowning.
A local resident alerted Mouda police. A police team along with senior police inspector of Mauda police station Hemant Kumar Kalle started searching for the duo. The police also pressed local divers but the youths could not be traced till late evening. The rescue operation was called off due to bad lights. The search operation will resume on Thursday morning, said the police.
