Nitesh Patil encourages self-employment for people with disabilities
Mysuru: Regional commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is also the MCC administrator, on Friday asked people with disabilities to be self-employed instead of seeking jobs.He spoke after inaugurating a workshop and exhibition on the utilisation of solar-based projects for disabled individuals, organised jointly by Mysuru City Corporation and SELCO Foundation, Bengaluru, at the Sir C Rangacharlu Town Hall in the city.

He said that specially-abled citizens can make use of solar-based machines and power tools, set up their own industries, and be self-employed. As training is arranged by the govt to improve skills, people with disabilities can learn to operate solar-powered machines and make use of the schemes, he said.As the govt also provides 50% subsidy for the establishment of food processing and research units for the differently abled, the beneficiaries can make use of such schemes.He said that people with disabilities benefited from solar-based projects, successfully utilising them and leading independent lives in various parts of the state.DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy advised the differently abled to make use of the facilities provided by the govt for the welfare of the disabled.He said that MCC will spend 5% of the grants earmarked for the welfare of the differently abled in the city to buy machine tools. It will be distributed to beneficiaries.
