Mandya dist minister calls for citizen participation in cleanliness marathon
Mandya: Mandya district in-charge minister N Cheluvarayaswamy on Sunday called upon citizens to actively participate in building a cleaner and more progressive district.Speaking after inaugurating the "Our Walk Towards Cleanliness–Run for Mandya Marathon" at the Sir M Visvesvaraya District Stadium in Mandya, he said Mandya already enjoys a prominent identity across the country, but there is a need to strive for greater and holistic development. He emphasised that such progress can be achieved only through the collective efforts of citizens, officials, and public representatives.

Cheluvarayaswamy highlighted that under the leadership of MLA Ravikumar and district administration, the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana was conducted successfully in Mandya. As part of the celebrations, a run was also organised in the presence of revered spiritual leaders, which received a tremendous response from the public.Nirmalanandanatha Swami, seer of Adichunchanagiri Mutt, said India will complete 100 years of Independence in 2047 and stressed the importance of laying strong foundations for national development today. He encouraged children and youth to cultivate a clean mindset and actively contribute to maintaining a clean and healthy district.Music director and president of the Karnataka Film Academy Sadhu Kokila highlighted the importance of effective waste management and reducing plastic usage to promote hygiene and environmental sustainability.Actor Virat and actress Radhika Narayan, Mandya MLA P Ravikumar, Muda chairman BP Prakash, DC Kumara, zilla panchayat CEO KR Nandini, and superintendent of police Shobharani were also present.
