Cesc prepares for monsoon power challenges
Mysuru: Mysuru regional commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is in-charge managing director of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), on Saturday directed the power utility officials to be fully prepared to handle potential power disruptions and emergency issues during the monsoon season.
During a preparatory meeting at the CESC headquarters in Vijayanagar II Stage, Nitesh gathered information on complaint management, power interruptions, public communication systems, and the stock of necessary materials across the sub-divisions of the five districts coming under CESC jurisdiction — Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Kodagu.
The complaint reception and response system needs to be strengthened, the RC suggested. As the monsoon approaches, it is crucial to provide quick responses to customers. Hence, CESC's toll-free and public contact numbers must operate continuously, and any inactive numbers should be immediately reactivated.
He advised pre-emptive stockpiling of necessary materials, as problems already arose with the first rain. "If materials are not supplied on time, it will be challenging to carry out the work. All divisions should receive materials promptly. Therefore, as soon as a request is received from any division, the necessary materials should be supplied quickly," he directed.
Notices should be issued to contractors who do not work according to the SOP during the monsoon. Contractors who perform timely and quality work during the rainy season should be given more work, while those showing negligence should be assigned less work, he said.
