MUMBAI: The new academic year ushers hope, expectations and determination to excel in students and Times NIE walks by their side quenching their thirst for knowledge.
As Times NIE enters the new academic year 2015-16, which is the 12th year of grooming its readers and star correspondents, it is all set to unveil a whole new array of activities, reader-friendly content and more.
Joining this journey, 30 star correspondents from schools across the city gathered at the Times of India building to celebrate the joy. After an interaction with the team, students cut a cake to welcome the new academic session. Aman Saraf, Class IX student from Cathedral and John Connon School, feels that NIE has helped him to grow as a student, by greatly increasing his writing skills. “Not only has the newspaper imparted immense knowledge, it has moulded me into a creative person with an avid interest in Indian and world affairs.”
At the venue, senior Times NIE members spoke to students, motivating them to overcome the academic challenges this year has to offer. Students also discussed how schools have incorporated the newspaper in the curriculum. “NIE has given me the freedom to express my views independently. In my school, Times NIE is used as a source of current affairs after which we are quizzed to improve our GK levels,” shared Stuti Singh, Class VIII, Apeejay School.
To acquaint students with the higher education courses available today, senior correspondent of Education Times Ruchi Chopda interacted with students.
Maithili Pawar from Children’s Academy enjoyed the insightful session and asserted that NIE acts as a guide for the student fraternity. She said, “Times NIE is the only newspaper that has information tailor-made for students. Students are always busy juggling school and academics; so it is easy for them to read the concise and simplified version of the story.”
