Shani Shingnapur case: Devendra Fadnavis welcomes court order
MUMBAI: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday welcomed the court order in Shani Shingnapur case saying that if the country had to progress in the 21st century then it was important to remove completely the caste and gender discrimination from the minds of the people. It may be recalled that on the directives of Fadnavis state has already made clear in the court through its lawyers that men and women had equal rights to worship the lord. Apparently on Thursday the court decision seem to have upheld the government view and is being welcomed from across all the sectors except a few religious banners such as Sanatan Sanstha. "The tradition of Maharashtra has been very rich and never been discriminating. State's stand has been clear from the beginning. It is women's right which must to be given to them. The state can progress very well if women join the government's mission of development in a big way," he said talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event held to announce BRICS summit in the city.
