Rs 260cr action plan to prevent human-wildlife conflict
Rapid Rescue Teams will be formed at 20 locations to rescue wild animals
Mumbai: The state wildlife board standing committee on Tuesday approved a Rs 260 crore action plan to prevent human-wildlife conflict. The action plan includes setting up of control rooms at ten places in the state in the first phase, use of artificial intelligence, establishment of a mobile phone based alert system, two rescue centres and ten treatment centres.The control rooms will be on the lines of the police control rooms will be equipped with state-of-the-art digital systems. The resources, vehicles and patrol teams of the forest dept will be tracked through this control room. If a human-wildlife conflict situation arises, the control room will immediately inform the concerned and necessary action will be taken, said state forest minister Ganesh Naik.Rapid Rescue Teams will be formed at 20 locations to rescue wild animals besides 2,000 primary Response Teams will be formed to help the Forest Dept in protecting villages in forest areas from wild animals, he said.
