Mumbai News Updates: City reports 661 Covid-19 cases, 21 deaths; 489 recover

The city police on Thursday said that it has decided to take action on the inter-district transfer of police constables, who have applied to go to other districts, after six months. Staff shortage for Covid bandobast, upcoming festivals like Eid, Ganpati, Navratri and bandobast for Municipal elections are the reasons for the decision. Maharashtra reported 9,195 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday which took its infection tally to 60,70,599, the health department said. With 252 fatalities, the death toll due to the pandemic rose to 1,22,197, it added. Read story

The Mumbai Police on Thursday arrested yet another person involved in the fake vaccination scam that was unearthed in the city a few days ago.
