THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation (
TMC) on Thursday informed that vaccination centres in the city will remain closed on July 2, Friday.
This comes as the city is once again facing a COVID-19 vaccine crunch.
However, only TMC and state-run centres will remain non-operational. Private vaccination centres in Thane have been permitted to continue administering jabs to eligible beneficiaries according to the number of doses that are available with them.
The vaccination drive for July 2 has been suspended in the neighbouring regions of Kalyan and Dombivli too, due to the unavailability of vaccines from the state government.
The inoculation centres were shut in Mumbai as well on Thursday due to a vaccine shortage.
Thane has been witnessing a downward trend in the number of daily coronavirus cases. On Thursday, lake city reported 90 new cases of COVID-19, while two patients succumbed to the infection.
The city has so far recorded 2,012 fatalities and 1,30,412 recoveries. As many as 991 patients are currently undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in Thane.
