Mumbai Police to take action on inter-district transfer of officers

The city police on Thursday said that it has decided to take action on the inter-district transfer of police constables, who have applied to go to other districts, after six months. Staff shortage for Covid bandobast, upcoming festivals like Eid, Ganpati, Navratri and bandobast for Municipal elections are the reasons for the decision. The police department has received applications for transfer from 2,200 constables in the last eight months. Read story here

Maharashtra reports 9,195 Covid-19 cases, 252 deaths

Gulshan Kumar murder case: Conviction of Rauf Merchant upheld by Bombay High Court

The Bombay High Court upholds the conviction of Abdul Rauf Merchant in connection with the 1997 killing of Gulshan Kumar. The court awarded him life imprisonment and directed him to surrender forthwith before the court or DN Nagar police. The court also directed him to deposit his passport.
