Mumbai drug overdose case: Police custody till May 10 for 12th accused
MUMBAI: Mahesh Khemlani, the 12th accused in the suspected drug overdose case, was produced before a magistrate court at Borivali on Wednesday. He was remanded to police custody till May 10 by the court.
Khemlani is currently being quizzed by the police jointly along with co-accused Ayush Sahitya and Vineet Gerelani. Sahitya and Gerelani were sent from judicial custody back to police custody by the magistrate court on Monday, following an application filed by the police.
Police suspect Khemlani and Sahitya to have obtained Ecstasy pills from overseas. Police have recovered 935 pills so far from Sahitya. Khemlani's lawyer argued before court that nothing had been recovered from his client.
On April 11, two MBA students had popped Ecstasy pills at a music concert at Goregaon and died the next day. Another female student, who had also consumed Ecstasy, took ill but has since been treated. Police have arrested 12 people in the case so far including two MBA students who were classmates of the deceased persons.
