Mumbai: Mumbai continued to reel under intense heat on Monday, with the
India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for hot and humid weather conditions at isolated places across the city.
Several parts of Mumbai recorded temperatures significantly above normal, with the IMD Colaba observatory registering a maximum temperature of 35.4°C, which was 1.5°C above normal, while the IMD Santacruz observatory recorded 35.8°C, 2.2°C above normal.
Night-time temperatures also remained elevated, offering little relief to citizens. The minimum temperature recorded at Colaba was 27.5°C, 0.5°C above normal, while Santacruz logged 28°C, 1.5°C above normal.
Meanwhile, automatic weather stations across the city’s suburbs recorded even higher temperatures during the day. Ram Mandir emerged as the hottest location at 39.7°C, followed by Vikhroli at 38.5°C, Bandra at 37.3°C, Dahisar at 37.1°C, and Vidyavihar at 36.8°C.
The prevailing high humidity levels have added to discomfort, with residents experiencing sultry conditions through the day. Weather officials have advised citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
