Man murdered for questioning obscene comment on wife’s social media account

Vasai: Five from a family, including two minors aged 16 and17, were slapped with an FIR for murder, unlawful assembly with arms, assault and other sections on Friday afternoon by the Nalasopara police. Of these five, the main accused, 24-year-old Mehandi Shaikh, has been arrested as he stabbed the victim, who died due to excessive bleeding.
The 23-year-old deceased was identified as Aftab Shaikh. He had visited the house of the accused early on Friday to confront him for sending an obscene messages on his wife's social media handle.Aftab Shaikh, a welder by profession, and his wife Fatima lived in Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara East. It was their wedding anniversary on Friday and Fatima had uploaded a status related to this on her social media account. The accused Mehandi Shaikh had posted an obscene message on her social media account. Unhappy, they went to the house of the accused in Nalasopara West, where a quarrel started and soon turned fatal as the accused stabbed the deceased with a knife. Aftab Shaikh was declared dead on arrival by the hospital. The Nalasopara police station said the minors would be sent to a juvenile home after completion of process. They said they had Mehandi and his wife, Shabana, in connection with the murder. Sources said Mehandi was out on bail in two POCSO cases registered against him earlier.
