Man held for molesting college student at Mumbai railway station
MUMBAI: A 55-year-old man was arrested by Govt Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday on charges of molesting a young college-going woman at Borivali railway station. Police said the accused is a pavement dweller near Borivali station.
The incident occurred around 6.40 am on platform 3 of the railway station.
The 21-year-old victim lives in Bhayander, was waiting on the platform for a Churchgate-bound local to arrive when the accused, Prashant Chavan, came up from behind her and touched her inappropriately.
The woman raised an alarm following which Chavan was arrested.
An FIR was registered at the Borivali GRP chowky on the basis of the woman's statement. Police are verifying if the accused has a prior crime record.
