Maharashtra’s share in Union taxes set to fall by Rs 1,823 crore
Mumbai: Maharashtra's share in the Union taxes is set to fall by approximately Rs 1,823 crore. As per the recommendations in the final report of the 15th Finance Commission, for the period 2021-22 to 2025-26, Central govt has fixed 41% of the net Union taxes to be devolved to the states, out of which Maharashtra's share is fixed at 6.31%. Based on these figures fixed for Maharashtra, the budget estimate for the year 2025-26 was stated as Rs 89,726.3 crore. However, the revised estimate for the year 2025-26 is Rs.87,903.36 crore.The grant-in-aid received as compensation for loss of Goods and Services Tax, and other grants provided to states is set to increase by Rs 17,489 crore for 2025-26. The budget estimate was Rs 50,511.36 crore, but in the revised estimate it has increased to Rs 68,000.5 crore. However, for the next financial year 2026-27, this will drop to Rs 66,110.18 crore.
