Mumbai: Accused in the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora,
Indrani Mukerjea has moved the special CBI court seeking to travel abroad. Rejecting her plea in April, the Supreme Court said that it had already asked her to move the trial court where proceedings against her are pending. Earlier in Feb 2025, the Supreme Court also rejected her plea. "There is no guarantee that you will come back," the bench observed.
Mukerjea sought permission to visit the UK and Spain to activate her bank accounts there and to change her will. CBI's case is that Indrani, along with her former husbands Sanjeev Khanna and Peter Mukerjea — who in 2015 was still married to her — and their driver Shyamvar Rai, hatched a plan to abduct and murder her daughter Sheena and attempt to murder her son Mekhail Bora. CBI claimed that on April 24, 2012, Indrani, Khanna and Rai abducted Sheena in a car, administered sedatives, strangled her and disposed of her body in a forest in Pen in Raigad district. The alleged crime came to light in Aug 2015. Rai turned approver and deposed as a prosecution witness.
