Lockdown in Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Gurugram and other major cities of India has been announced following a steep rise in number of Covid-19 confirmed cases in the country. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central govt has directed states to strictly enforce lockdown and take legal action against violators. The maximum number of cases have being reported from Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Delhi, and Rajasthan. Stay with TOI for all updates:

Gurugram doctor among 7 new Covid-19 patients in Delhi-NCR
The number of patients in Delhi’s hospitals with Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, touched 30 on Sunday with three more confirmed cases. Two new cases in Noida and two more in Gurugram the same day pushed the number of patients with the same disease in both neighbouring cities to 8 each.

Delhi budget today in one-day session
Delhi government will present the budget for the financial year 2020-21 on Monday in a session that has been curtailed from five days to one day due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.
Of the 27 positive coronavirus cases in Delhi, 21 are of people who travelled to countries hit by the COVID-19 disease whereas the six others came in contact with the infected persons in India, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday.

Police have advised Delhiites to avoid travelling to the NCR, unless for essential work since all the borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh would be sealed for vehicular movement.
Telangana chief minister (CM) K Chandrasekhar Rao announced a complete lockdown of the state until March 31 on Sunday in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.
As many as two coronavirus positive cases were reported in UP on Sunday, taking the state tally to 28. Both the cases came to light in Noida which has so far recorded six cases. The new cases take the total for Noida to 8.
From 6 am on Monday, all public transport in Delhi will come to a grinding halt with Delhi government notifying a complete lockdown of the capital. Except for one-fourth of public transport buses, which will only ferry those involved in essential service, no other mode of transport would be allowed.
