LUCKNOW: As many as two
coronavirus positive cases were reported in UP on Sunday, taking the state tally to 28. Both the cases came to light in Noida which has so far recorded six cases. The new cases take the total for Noida to 8.
State surveillance officer, Dr Vikasendu Agarwal said: “The two cases can be linked to a travel history. The first patient is a 37-year-old professional who had visited Denmark and Sweden last week while the other patient is his 62-year-old mother who came back from Sweden.” Health officials in Noida were instructed to track the contacts of the two patients who were also quarantined at government hospital.
Coronavirus in India live updatesHealth officials informed that social distancing was perhaps the only available solution to counter the coronavirus which has taken more than 10,000 lives across the country. “Efforts are being made to keep the infection under control in the state. Of the 28 patients who tested positive in the state 10 have recovered completely. However, they have been asked to stay home quarantined for another two weeks to avoid chances for relapse,” explained Dr Agarwal.
Suspected cases continued to surface in different parts of the state. In Lucknow, 29 such patients were checked and put in isolation wards including 4 at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences. At the state level, the number of suspected cases isolated at hospitals crossed 50 mark.
Health officials also emphasized on the importance of the janata curfew imposed by the state across 15 cities. “It is very important for people to strictly follow the curb imposed in the interest of their family members and also for the well being of society at large. The extreme step has been taken to break the chain of the virus movement so that a fate like Italy or China may be avoided,” said CMO Lucknow Dr Narendra Agarwal.
