Mumbai: The BJP late Sunday night released its list of 11 candidates for the MLC elections.Prajakt Tanpure who joined the BJP less than 24 hours earlier is the party’s candidate from Ahilyanagar while Arun Lakhani, the to be father-n-law of Revati Sule, daughter of NCP (SP) MP from Baramati Supriya Sule’s will be contesting the election from Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli seat.For Bhandara-Gondia, Avinash Brahmankar is the candidate, Amravati seat will be contested by Pravin Pote Patil, Sangli-Satara seat will be contested by Dhairyashil Kadam, Solapur candidate is Rajendra Raut, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar-Jalna candidate is Suhas Shirsat, Nanded candidate is Amar Rajurkar, for Dharashiv-Latur-Beed the party has put up Basavraj Patil and from Jalgaon the candidate is Nandkishore Mahajan. For Nagpur the party has nominated Dr Rajiv Potdar.While all will be contesting for the local body seats, ten will have a six year term while the Nagpur seat is a bypoll election following the resignation of state revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule after he was elected to the state assembly in 2024.Elections to 16 legislative council seats from the local self-govt bodies and a bypoll from the Nagpur self-government body are scheduled for June 18.
June 1 is the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on June 2, and the last date for withdrawal is June 4. Votes will be counted on June 22.The 16 local self-government bodies constituencies going to the polls include Solapur, Ahmednagar, Thane, Jalgaon, Sangli-Satara, Nanded, Yavatmal, Pune, Bhandara-Gondia, Raigad-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Nashik, Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli, Amravati, Osmanabad-Latur-Beed, Parbhani-Hingoli, and Aurangabad-Jalna. The other five seats will be contested by its allies the Shiv Sena and NCP.
