After PM Narendra Modi’s appeal to save fuel amid West Asia crisis, Raigad SP and Mhasala tehsildar ride to office on their bicycles
Navi Mumbai: Following the appeal by PM Narendra Modi to the govt officials among citizens of the country to take initiative for fuel consumption amid the escalating West Asia war crisis, Anchal Dalal, the Superintendent of Police of Raigad district, and Sachin Khade, the tehsildar of Mhasala taluka in Raigad district, have started riding to their offices on their bicycles instead of the govt vehicles, without any security convoy from Tuesday onwards.
Raigad SP Aanchal Dalal said, “After PM Narendra Modi’s appeal to save fuel, among other austerity measures, since Tuesday, I ride on my bicycle from home to reach my Alibaug headquarters office, instead of the govt vehicle. Since change starts with oneself and it will encourage the citizens to respond positively to the PM’s appeal.”
She said, “Though the distance from my residence to office is only about 700 metres, riding a bicycle instead of travelling by govt vehicle for such short distance will save fuel considering the consumption of fuel for a month.”
As the citizens saw SP Anchal Dalal riding a bicycle to reach her office at Alibaug headquarters, without any security convoy, she was praised on social media for her initiative with comments like, “A truly fit and hit officer. Behind this initiative of SP Aanchal Dalal is not only the idea of saving fuel, but also the message of a healthy lifestyle. While it is difficult to find time for exercise in a hectic life, she has indirectly shown that cycling is an effective option.”
Another message on social media was, “SP Anchal Dala’s decision is considered more important in the backdrop of increasing pollution, traffic problems and fuel price hike. This different picture of simplicity and social responsibility in administration is indeed an encouragement for the citizens. SP Aanchal Dalal has shown through her actions that a bigger message can be given through the bell of a bicycle than the sound of a siren.”
