MUMBAI: Two persons-Satish Ingale (32) and Rajesh Sharma (25)-who allegedly threw acid on a bar singer Dharavi on April 4 have been arrested. The Dharavi police had earlier arrested Santosh Shinde (22) at whose behest the duo had thrown acid on Jamuna Narendra Bhera (25).
According to the police, Shinde first saw Bhera at the Sibbu Bar in Bandra's Kherwadi area a few months ago and fell in love.
He proposed to Bhera, but she refused. Enraged, Shinde decided to teach the singer a lesson.
On April 4, two men on a bike approached threw acid on Bhera, who was sitting inside an autorickshaw, and fled. Bhera sustained 20% burn injuries on her face and hands. The auto driver, Vikaskumar Shrivastava, was also injured in the attack. The two were admitted to Bhabha Hospital. The incident occurred around 1.40 am on PMG Road in Dharavi. "We have recorded the statements of the accused and will file the charge sheet at the earliest," said an investigating officer. -Omkar Khandekar.
