Ex model, friend sentenced to life for killing former’s parents

MEERUT: A former city-based model and her friend were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering the woman’s parents in 2008. District Judge RK Gautam, in sessions court, sentenced ex Meerut model Priyanka Singh and her friend Anju for the murder of Priyanka’s parents and slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on each of them. Police has arrested both of them and sent to jail. The couple’s bodies were found inside the house. Both had been strangulated to death.As per the police sources, Priyanka Singh was crowned Miss Meerut in 2005. She was 18 at that time. Later she fell into bad company because of which there used to be frequent confrontations with parents. During this period, she befriended Anju Kumari, a resident of Amroha with whom she developed intimate relationship. However, this infuriated her parents and they asked her to leave the house.Earlier, they had also transferred the entire property to Priyanka’s brother Gaurav. Agitated by these development, on the same night, Priyanka and Anju came back home and first strangulated Santosh Devi and when her father came to the rescue of her mother, he was also strangulated to death. Before escaping, the duo took away household jewellery, cash and also the document in which her father had willed the property in the name of his son.
