MEERUT: A 24-year-old man who went missing on Monday evening was found murdered and buried in a forest area in Bulandshahr. Police on Wednesday arrested three people, including the victim’s childhood friend.
Sakshar Kaushik, a resident of Devipura-I under Bulandshahr police station limits, had left home with his friend Devesh Singh. CCTV footage showed he was last seen with him. When Sakshar did not return and his phone was found switched off, his family approached police.
During questioning, Devesh initially claimed Sakshar had got off midway but later confessed to the
murder, police said.
Officials said Sakshar was taken to Bilsuri in Sikandrabad for a drinking session, where an argument broke out. Devesh, along with
Mukesh Kumar and Shubham Chaudhary, allegedly strangled him and then crushed his head with bricks. They then buried the body in a nearby field.
SP (City)
Shankar Prasad said the motive stemmed from a personal dispute. “Mukesh was in a relationship with a transgender person and he harboured a grudge against Sakshar after he saw the transgender and Sakshar together,” SP Prasad said.
Police said the murder was pre-planned. “They (accused) made him drink before killing him and buried the body,” Prasad added.
Devesh, Shubham and the transgender person have been arrested, while Mukesh is absconding.
