2 dead in gas leak during trial at battery recycling unit in Bulandshahr
MEERUT: Two people died due to a gas leak during a trial at a battery recycling factory in the Sikandrabad industrial area of Bulandshahr on Tuesday, police said.District magistrate Shruti Sharma said the company was not fully operational yet, and the gas leak occurred during the trial. Three workers fell ill, including Anshul Chauhan ,28, a resident of Moradabad, Satendra Singh ,25, a resident of Bulandshahr, and Girish Kumar, who was taken to the hospital. Sharma instructed a thorough investigation into the accident, and the factory owner was also summoned. The families of the deceased were assured of assistance and compensation.Police said the gas leaked, possibly due to a technical glitch, and the victims were unable to escape. Girish Kumar is undergoing treatment and was referred to Delhi due to his worsening condition. The district administration was informed in the afternoon and began its investigation.SSP Shlok Kumar said, "We are reviewing CCTV footage and will file an FIR after receiving a police complaint."Locals staged a sit-in at the factory's main gate, demanding strict action, but police managed to calm them down.
