Calling it one of several conflicts he “stopped,” Trump again claimed responsibility for ending the India-Pakistan standoff after Operation Sindoor. India has consistently pushed back, stressing that the understanding to halt military action was reached bilaterally after days of intense cross-border strikes. New Delhi says there was no mediation and no trade-based pressure. As Trump repeats the claim for what may be the last time this year, the gap between political credit-taking and diplomatic reality remains wide, underscoring India’s insistence on strategic autonomy in matters of national security.
