Actress Rituparna Sengupta shared a heartfelt note remembering Bengali actress Sraboni Banik, who passed away on December 29 at the age of 41, after a long battle with lung cancer. Sraboni breathed her last around 9 am after her health worsened due to lung adenocarcinoma and metastasis.
In her tribute, Rituparna described Sraboni as someone who was bright yet calm, expressive in her work but quiet by nature. She recalled their long association that began with the film
Alo and spoke about Sraboni’s sincerity, dedication and beautiful mind, which always impressed her. Rituparna also mentioned how deeply Sraboni respected filmmaker Tarun Majumdar and how committed she was to her responsibilities at work.
Sharing a personal memory, Rituparna wrote about the day Sraboni called her to talk about her illness. While the news left her heartbroken, she was amazed by Sraboni’s courage and mental strength. She stayed in touch with doctors, discussed treatment options and continued to hope for her recovery.
Calling Sraboni a loving mother, a fine actress and a kind human being, Rituparna wrote that even though she has gone far away, she will always remain close to the heart and never be forgotten.
