2 dead, 2 injured due to lightning in Bijnor

Bijnor: Two people died and two others were injured after lightning struck them while they were harvesting sugarcane in Gajana–Bagadpur village under Dehat police station area around 11am on Friday. The incident occurred amid sudden weather changes, with strong winds, heavy rain, thunder and lightning lashing the region.Officials said Dharmendra Singh, 45, and Naresh Kumar, 30, died, while Jaiveer Singh, 38, and Bhure Khan, 47, were injured. Kumar and Khan are migrant workers from Bihar. Dharmendra and Jaiveer are farm owners, while Kumar and Khan worked as labourers for Jaiveer.Villagers alerted officials, following which the bodies were sent for postmortem. SP Amit Kumar Anand said, "The process to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased has been initiated by the district administration."Dharmendra is survived by his wife and two children. Information about Kumar's family could not be obtained.
