Two killed , 8 injured in a jeep crash near Kollur
Udupi: Two persons were killed and eight others injured in a head-on collision between a tourist jeep and an insulator vehicle at Dali in Kollur Sunday. SP Hariram Shankar identified the deceased as Ariya Anoop, 28, and Jyothi, in her 30s. The accident occurred between 1pm and 2pm, when the group, all from Kottayam district in Kerala, was returning from Kodachadri. The jeep they were travelling in was hit by an insulator vehicle coming from Malpe towards Shivamogga, which allegedly veered to the wrong side at high speed. Eight injured — Arya,in her 20s, Ayan, 5, Avani, 8, Arjun, 9, Mini, 60s, Aby, 36, Jyotish, 43, and jeep driver Devaraj — are undergoing treatment at various hospitals. Police said the driver of the insulator vehicle fled the scene after the accident.
