Karnataka: Case filed against 8 for entering restricted Bhadragada Island
MANGALURU: Udupi Police have registered a case against eight individuals who allegedly entered the restricted Dariya Bahadur or Bhadragada Island, also known as Lighthouse Island, within the Malpe police station limits.
Antony Felix Parambil, serving as the Deputy Conservator at Malpe Port for the past five years, stated in his complaint to the police that he received information on November 15 while at the Gangolli Port Office that a group of individuals illegally visited the protected island the previous day.
A member of the public informed the complainant that on November 14, between 4 pm and 5 pm, around eight people went fishing on a boat to the island within the Malpe port boundary in the Arabian Sea.
Upon inquiring with the locals of the Malpe area, it was discovered that Shekhar Kundar, a resident of Vadabhandeshwara, Malpe, took Mohammad Hussain Malbari, Roshan Zameer, Mohammad Ansar Basheera, Abu Sanan, Annappa Manjunatha Devadiga, Mohammad Faizan Sheikh, and Mohammad Javed Ahmad, all residents of Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada district, on his boat for fishing, according to the complainant.
They allegedly went to the restricted Bhadargada Island at 4 pm and returned by 5.30 pm. Police said that despite knowing that public entry to Bhadargada Island is prohibited, all the accused violated the district administration’s order and committed an offence by trespassing with a common intent.
The Malpe Police have registered a case under Section 329(3) along with 3(5) BNS.
