Absconding accused held after 8 years
Mangaluru: Mangaluru city police have arrested an accused who had been absconding since 2018 in theft and cattle-slaughter prohibition cases, for which non-bailable warrants (NBWs) had been issued by the courts.City police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH said the arrested accused is Abubakkar Siddique alias Capri Siddique, a resident of Pavalike in Uppala, Kasaragod district.According to the police, three NBWs were pending against him in cases registered at the Ullal, Konaje, and Kankanady police stations. Police said the accused had been evading court proceedings and remained absconding for nearly eight years.A special team was formed to trace the absconding warrant accused. Acting on information about the accused's movements, a team led by PSI Siddappa tracked him down and arrested him.The accused was later handed over to Ullal police station for further legal procedures and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody, police said.
