Women’s athletics meet in Madurai on March 8

Madurai: The Union ministry of youth affairs and sports will organise a women's athletics competition in Madurai on March 8 to mark International Women's Day.The event, to be conducted through MyBharat, the Sports Authority of India, Asmita, FIT India and Khelo India initiatives, will be held at the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority stadium in Madurai. The competition will feature 100m, 200m, and 400m races. Participants will compete in three age categories — under 13, 13–18 and above 18 years. Winners will receive medals and certificates, while all participants will be given participation certificates, said state director Senthil Kumar. Khelo India district coordinator Ramadas, Tamil Nadu sports development officer Raja, Union youth affairs and sports ministry representative Vishnukath and MyBharat programme coordinator Meenakshi were present at the announcement.
