TNEB contract employee electrocuted; 4 booked
Madurai: A 49-year-old temporary worker with the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) was electrocuted on Tuesday while repairing a power line on the Valayankulam national highway.According to police sources, Kandhasamy, was working for more than 25 years as a temporary employee in TNEB under the Perungudi section. On May 5, he was repairing a fault on an electric pole near a private steel company, after switching off the transformer. However, he was electrocuted and died on the spot. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Govt Rajaji Hospital for autopsy.Based on the complaint from his wife Selvi, a case was registered against TNEB employees Krishnan, Kandhavel, Mullaisamy and Balamurugan by Perungudi police.Preliminary investigation revealed that it is reported that Kandhasamy did his job after switching off the transformer. But he was electrocuted; police are investigating how the electricity got turned on and the possible involvement of the TNEB employees, who may have accidentally switched on the transformer. Interrogation is going on with those suspects, they added.
