Online registration gets under way for 3 key jallikattu events in Madurai district

Bull taming and bull fighting are two events that will be taking place in Madurai, India on January 15th. The events began at 12pm on Tuesday, and there are separate registration links available on the official website of the Madurai district administration. For bull tamers, they need to upload all of their details, including their assistant and the bull they are taming, as well as a copy of their bull's medical certificate. Bull owners need to upload only their own details and a copy of their bull's medical certificate. Bull tamers will be allowed to participate only if they possess the covid19 vaccination certificates for two doses, and test negative in rtpcr test taken within two days before the event. The bulls will be allowed to take part only in any one of the three jallikattu events. The applications will be examined and only qualified participants would be able to download their tokens which are required for participation. The online registration will be open until 5pm on January 12th, and officials from various departments, including the Madurai Corporation and Madurai City Police, are overseeing the preparations. MADURAI: Online registration for bull tamers and bulls for Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur jallikattu events began at 12pm on Tuesday.
There are separate registration links available on the official website of the Madurai district administration at madurai.nic.in for bull tamers and bull owners. Bull owners need to upload all details of themselves, their assistant and the bull.

They also need to upload a copy of their bull’s medical certificate, provided by a veterinarian. Bull tamers have to upload their own details.
Bull tamers, owners and assistants would be allowed to participate only if they possess the Covid-19 vaccination certificates for two doses and test negative in RT-PCR test taken within two days before the event. The bulls will be allowed to take part only in any one of the three jallikattu events. The applications will be examined and only qualified participants would be able to download their tokens which are required for participation. The online registration will be open till 5pm on January 12.
Meanwhile, officials from various departments, including the Madurai corporation and Madurai city police, inspected the preparations underway for the jallikattu event set to be held at Avaniyapuram in Madurai on January 15.
Madurai mayor, V Indrani Ponvasanth scrutinised the arrangements at the venue in Avaniyapuram. She was accompanied by corporation commissioner, Simranjeet Singh Kahlon and deputy commissioner of police (Madurai South), V Sai Praneeth.
The officials oversaw various works such as setting up of wooden barricades, vaadivasal, seating arrangements for the public and VIPs, drinking water, mobile toilet, power generator, lighting and security, among others. Preparations are also being made for medical examination camps and other facilities, and the route of entry specifically for the bulls, including entry and exit. The mayor instructed the concerned officers to complete the preparation works at the earliest for the smooth conduct of the event.
