College student killed in accident, father injured

Kanyakumari: A 19-year-old college student was killed on the spot, while her father was injured after a speeding truck rammed their two-wheeler near the Thuckalay police station in Kanyakumari district late on Thursday night.Police sources said that the deceased, identified as Godlin Abina, was a resident of Kaliyakkavilai. She was en route to the Kanyakumari railway station with her father, Christuraj, on a two-wheeler. When they were nearing Thuckalay police station, an empty truck was on its way from Marthandam to Nagercoil. When both the vehicles were nearing the Thuckalay police station, the truck hit the rear of the two-wheeler, causing it to swerve and lose control. The father and daughter fell down.Godlin Abina died on the spot, while her father received mild injuries and got treated at a nearby govt hospital.Police sent the body to Kanyakumari Govt Medical College Hospital for autopsy.Thuckalay police registered a case and arrested the truck driver Prakash, 26, of Tirunelveli.
