Ludhiana: On the complaint of a 36-year-old woman from Daba, police have filed a case against a family in her neighbourhood and a local scribe for beating her up. The incident took place in May but police did not lodge an FIR. The woman later moved Punjab State Women Commission and the Human Rights Commissioner, after whose intervention, police registered a case.Those who have been booked are a local scribe, Sushil Machan of Barota Road, Shimlapuri; Ram Lakshman, his wife Vidya Laxman, and daughter Meera Laxman, residents of Sukhdev Nagar of Shimlapuri; besides Sushil Machan's wife, Pooja Machan. The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Sneha Kapoor, of Sukhdev Nagar.ASI Gurinder Singh said that earlier, Sushil Machan accused Sneha of beating him and got an FIR lodged against her. The woman also levelled the same allegations against him and his aide, who are Sneha's neighbours. They had a fight over an old rivalry. A case under sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 191 (3) (rioting) of BNS has been registered. MSID:: 123925524 413 |
