Street robbery caught on camera in Ludhiana
Ludhiana: A brazen, armed street robbery caught on camera has sparked fresh safety concerns in the city, highlighting a persistent surge in local snatching offences.
The incident’s CCTV footage circulating on social media shows a woman being targeted by motorcycle-borne thieves at about 1 am on Thursday in Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. Carrying a purse and a bag, she stopped beside a parked car as two men on a motorcycle approached her.
The pillion rider dismounted and attempted to grab her purse. When the woman resisted, the assailant threatened her with a machete, seized the bag, and fled with his accomplice. The footage also captured a second motorcycle following the attackers, with police suspecting those riders were accomplices.
A local resident reported waking to the woman’s screams, prompting her husband to check their home’s live security feed, which had captured the robbery. Division Number 7 police are trying to trace the suspects and identify the robbed woman, who hasn’t reported the incident yet.
