Passions Play Part in CBSE Class XII Triumphs
Ludhiana: From the karate dojo to the photography studio, Ludhiana’s top academic performers have proven that the secret to acing the CBSE Class XII exams lies in a balanced life.
The city’s leading scorers, who swept the rankings with marks as high as 99.6 per cent, credited their success to a mix of rigorous study and the creative pursuits that kept stress at bay.
The Creative Advantage
Leading the charge in the Humanities stream, Hirdeyroop Kaur of DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, secured a near-perfect 498/500. An aspiring fashion communicator, Hirdeyroop’s perfect scores in psychology and fashion studies were complemented by her passion for photography. For her, these weren’t just distractions but essential components of her academic identity.
Similarly, Japneet Singh of Greenland School, who matched the top city score of 99.6% in the non-medical stream, turned to the cricket pitch and his music playlist to manage the pressure of his engineering aspirations.
Discipline on Mat and in Classroom
In the Commerce stream, Savroop Kaur of Sacred Heart Convent School recorded an impressive 99.4%. Her preparation was as much about physical discipline as mental, balancing her textbooks with her practice as a karateka.
“My hobbies, including painting and karate, provided the necessary break from studies,” she noted, having achieved 100% marks in business studies, music, and English.
The Marathoners
While hobbies provided the balance, the students didn’t shy away from the “grind.” Harnoor Badesha, who also scored 99.4%, described a dramatic shift in her routine — moving from two hours of study on normal days to 15-hour marathons during the examination period. Between these sessions, she found her rhythm through dancing and cooking.
Prathna Dhawan, another high-flyer with 99.2%, relied on late-night study sessions until 1am, but ensured her productivity remained high by staying active on the badminton court.
While the students’ backgrounds vary — from the children of business owners and landlords to teachers and engineers — the collective results underscore Ludhiana’s position as a high-performing hub within the CBSE’s North zone.
