Kamaldeep, who owns a cold drink factory, said, “I was returning home from my factory in Sahnewal. When I reached near Guru Arjun Dev Nagar, accused Gagandeep was coming out of a filling station. He asked me to stop. As I pulled over and downed the left windowpane, Gagandeep alighted from his two-wheeler and fired two gunshots at me. He had aimed at my head, which I covered with my arms. The two bullets hit my left arm. His weapon got stuck when he tried to fire the third shot and I sped away from there.”
Kamaldeep drove to CMCH and informed his family and police.
“Gagandeep is an old friend of mine. Two years ago, he had come to my house to attend a Lohri function, during which we had a fight. However, later, we struck a compromise. But Gagandeep bore a grudge against me. He had told our common friends that he wanted to teach me a lesson. When he stopped me outside the filling station, I thought he wanted to talk to me to resolve the issue. But as soon as I downed the windowpane, he started firing at me. A few days back, Gagandeep had got a licensed weapon. I have told the police about it,” he added.
Division 7 ASI Jaspal Singh said a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and the Arms Act has been lodged against Gagandeep, a resident of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar. He owns a medical store at Pindi Street. It is being verified if the accused owns a licensed weapon and if it was used in the crime. The incident has been captured on the CCTVs installed at the filling station.”
