Celebrating a new life with mom-to-be

LUDHIANA: The feeling of welcoming a new life cannot be described in words. Not too long ago, women sporting the baby bump did not go out of the house. Things have changed and now, expecting moms are not only pretty open about their blooming bellies but are also celebrating pregnancy with lavish baby showers.We catch up with women who celebrated the forthcoming birth with their loved ones.One of the would-be-moms, Vanisha Deewan, a homemaker from Tagore Nagar, recently had her baby shower ceremony. "My twin sister organized a baby shower for me with all my kitty friends. It was a surprise. It was such fun, everyone played games related to the baby shower. Little girls were dressed in pink or blue. Everyone bought gifts for the baby and beautiful satches for me with the words, 'mother to be'," she said.Vanisha's sister Siya Kapoor, a resident of Dugri, who organized the ceremony, said, "I am so excited about becoming a massi. I hired an event manager and organized the celebration with her help", she said.Silky Arora, a homemaker from Kitchlu Nagar had a blast at her baby shower. "It was my dream to have a baby shower and my husband and sister helped me realize it. When I went to my place, the house was decorated with blue and pink balloons. There were so many baby accessories. Preparations included a baby shower cake and baby bottle games. It was a fusion of tradition and modernity," she said.Sakshi Arora, one of the guests at the function, said, "I have never seen such a lavish celebration for baby shower in my life. We played so many games like, bottles up, in which we were supposed to drink a beverage of our choice from a bottle. It was mind blowing."Another would be mother Shaina Arora, a homemaker from BRS Nagar (name changed ) said she is looking forward to her baby shower. "Although I was initially shy, I cannot wait for the baby shower ceremony now. I am so excited about the celebration and am already planning it," she said.Event manager Sonya Kapoor of Civil Lines said baby showers are in these days. "Baby shower is in trend. We get at least three to four orders for baby shower in a month. Lavish baby showers replete with theme-based games are in trend. The pricing depends on how lavish the hosts want the party to be. The theme starts from Rs 30,000.
