Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil ended his fast after accepting the Maharashtra government’s resolution on the quota issue. The decision followed a meeting with the state cabinet sub-committee, which agreed to implement the Hyderabad Gazette identifying Marathas as Kunbis—a community eligible for OBC reservation. The government also assured that all cases filed against protesting supporters would be withdrawn. Cabinet panel head Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil thanked Jarange for ending his hunger strike. The quota demand pertains to Marathas from Marathwada and western Maharashtra. Jarange had earlier said protesters would vacate Mumbai once the resolution was issued. He called the Hyderabad Gazette undeniable proof of Maratha-Kunbi identity, citing historical records from the erstwhile Hyderabad State.
