UP STF arrests three employees of Gujarat based transportation company given task of distribution of UP police constable question paper, kingpin still elusive
LUCKNOW: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh arrested three prime suspects allegedly involved in the leaking of question papers for the Uttar Pradesh Police Constable Recruitment Examination-2023.
Director General of police, Prashant Kumar, said that the arrests took place from Lalkua flyover in the Vijaynagar district of Ghaziabad. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhishek Shukla of Prayagraj, Shivam Giri of Mirzapur and Rohit Kumar Pandey of Bhadohi. Upon their arrest, the STF seized three mobile phones along with a question paper pertaining to the second shift of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Examination conducted on February 18, 2024.
“The trio, having worked together at TCI Express (company tasked with storage and distribution of question papers), exploited their familiarity to orchestrate the paper leak. the transport company sublet by the question paper printing press to print, store and distribute the pap Ravi Attri, one of the masterminds, instructed Abhishek Shukla to keep a lookout for any materials arriving at the company.
He added that the STF conducted a swift operation across various districts including Varanasi, Jhansi, Agra, Kanpur, Bareilly, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Hathras, Noida, and Ballia. A total of 178 cases were registered and 396 individuals were arrested in connection with the paper leak.
Kumar revealing crucial details of their modus operandi said that Abhishek Shukla disclosed his association with TCI Express Company in Ahmedabad where he came into contact with Ravi Atri, facilitating his entry into the paper leak racket. Shivam Giri, who previously worked at TCI Express in Delhi and later transferred to Ahmedabad, was instrumental in roping in Abhishek Shukla and Rohit Pandey.
“Rohit Kumar Pandey, a graduate from Kanpur University, joined TCI Express in Ahmedabad where he collaborated with Shivam Giri and Abhishek Shukla. Ravi Attri, one of the masterminds, instructed Abhishek Shukla to keep a lookout for any materials arriving at the company,” said Kumar.
DGP said that Attri also promised substantial monetary rewards, offering Rs 5 lakh for obtaining the paper and an additional Rs 15 to 20 lakh upon successful completion of the operation. Furthermore, he extended the offer to assist others willing to partake in the scheme, promising them Rs 5 lakh each.
STF said that others who are part of the gang including Rajeev Nayan Mishra, Ravi Attri. While, Shubham Mandal has been detained and being questioned.
