'They were holding hands': UP couple jumps before moving train over families' refusal for marriage
MAHARAJGANJ: A young couple allegedly died by suicide after jumping before a moving train near Bhagirath railway station in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj following opposition from their families for their marriage, police said on Thursday.Nautanwa SHO Purushottam Rao said on Wednesday that eyewitnesses claimed the two were holding hands when they jumped in front of the Nautanwa–Gorakhpur Intercity Express.Preliminary investigation suggests the couple, both in their early 20s, took the extreme step due to opposition from their families over their relationship.Police said the families have been informed, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem before being handed over to relatives.
