Two-day conference on breast cancer to begin in Patna on April 4

Patna: ABSI SkillCon-2026, a two-day conference and surgical workshop on breast cancer, will be held at a city hotel on April 4 and 5. The event is being organised by the Association of Breast Cancer of India (ABSI). It will bring together doctors from the United Kingdom and across India to share the latest knowledge on breast cancer treatment and conduct live surgeries.The conference aims to strengthen the quality of healthcare services and provide advanced training to doctors in the region. Organisers said the programme has been designed to familiarise medical professionals with modern surgical techniques and updated treatment methods for breast diseases.Addressing the media ahead of the event, organising chairman Dr V P Singh said the main objective of ABSI SkillCon-2026 is to equip doctors with the latest skills so patients suffering from breast cancer can receive the best possible treatment. He said the workshop would serve as an important platform for learning, discussion and practical exposure.Health experts, including Dr V P Singh, Dr Rahul Chaudhary, Dr Akash Kumar Singh, Dr P K Jha and Dr Pradeep Jaiswal, also highlighted growing concerns over lifestyle-related factors linked to breast cancer. They pointed to prolonged use of contraceptive pills for more than five years, a long gap between menarche and menopause, delayed pregnancy and not breastfeeding as some of the risk factors associated with the disease.The doctors stressed the importance of early screening, saying timely detection can save lives and significantly improve treatment outcomes. They underlined the need for greater awareness among women about symptoms, risk factors and the benefits of regular medical check-ups.Several experts from India and abroad are expected to participate in the conference. Among them are Dr Rishikesh Parmeshwar from England, Dr Amar Deshpandey, Dr Shalaka Joshi from Tata Memorial, Dr Manjula Rao from Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Dr Ashutosh Mishra from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi (AIIMS Delhi), Dr Sanjeet Agrawal from Tata Medical Centre Kolkata (TMC Kolkata), Dr Navneet Kaur from Max Delhi, Dr Deeptendra Kumar Sarkar from Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research Kolkata (IPGMER Kolkata) and Dr Sevanti Limaye from Reliance Foundation Hospital Mumbai.Organising secretary Dr Akash Kumar Singh said the event would not only facilitate the exchange of knowledge among experts but also contribute to the overall upgradation of cancer care services in the region.
