Lucknow: National executive member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and chief patron of RSS-backed Muslim Rashtriya Manch, Indresh Kumar, on Wednesday greeted the Muslims on Bakrid and appealed to them to stay away from cow slaughter.
“The Prophet has said that cow’s milk and ghee are a cure and treatment. Therefore, we must consume cow’s ghee and milk, but not cow meat, so that we may follow the path shown by the Prophet. May there be no violence anywhere on this day. May peace and harmony prevail,” Kumar said.
“On the occasion of Bakrid, do everything but stay away from cow slaughter. We are not Muslims or Hindus in India, we are all Indians. We were one, we are one, and we will remain one. Let this message resonate everywhere,” he said.
Muslim clerics in
Uttar Pradesh have already extended their support to existing restrictions on cow slaughter, emphasising compliance with the law of the land to maintain communal harmony.
Clerics like president of Jamiat Ulema Hind Maulana Arshad Madani, Lucknow Eidgah Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahali, have even supported the demand that cow should be declared India’s national animal.
